Summer is coming to a close and it’s been a great one. It marks the beginning of a new era – life after an OWU Travel Learning course. Music on the Mississippi: River Road Folk Music Traditions joined the forces of 7 music students and myself with two other OWU classes – Creative Writing and History – to study at OWU about – and travel to – Southern Louisiana this past spring semester. As that part of our country is trying to dry out after an historic flood, we are grateful to the good folks in Breaux Bridge, Lafayette and New Orleans for making us welcome and breaking our hearts with their beautiful culture. Got the South in My Soul – that tune sings to my students and me.
At the Dublin Irish Festival last year and this summer, I was fortunate to perform with We Banjos Three – an Irish band from Galway who added a Columbus horn line to their eclectic mix of Celtic, Bluegrass, Blues and Rock tunes. We also recorded tracks for their latest recording, String Theory and will be joining them for St. Patrick’s Day and again for the Dublin Irish Festival in 2017. Check out our horn lines on their video, Happiness:

I’m excited to tell you about the happenings this fall:
Until we meet again – visit often and let me know when we can play some music together!
